Former women's bantamweight Champion, now ranked #3 in the division, "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey (12-1)
Current Invicta FC women's featherweight Champion, Christiane "Cyborg" Justino (16-1)
SO WHAT DO I THINK OF ALL THIS??
The rivalry between these two goes waaaaaay way back. Throughout the years it seemed like the media made it seem like she was running away from Cyborg? But why? I mean I probably don't even have to ask, but I know the differences in weight were an issue. Cyborg fights at 145, but the UFC doesn't have a women's division for that weight class, so the option was to fight at 140.
That meant Ronda would have to move up 5lbs from bantamweight. Normally that number doesn't seem like a big jump, but apparently, it was because these ladies still have to fight.
There is even an old-school video on Ronda Rousey doing an interview calling out Cyborg and how one day they will fight at 135. However, that was 4 years ago when she was the Strikeforce women's bantamweight Champion.
As the years begin to pass while Ronda was Champion, the feud between the 2 built up even more. When there were issues of Cyborg cutting the pounds Ronda Rousey did an interview last year where she stated she would indeed fight Cyborg at 140 if that is what Dana White wants her to do.
This would be the super fight of the year. This fight was supposed to be established when Ronda Rousey was still in the light. Now that we have seen her loose once before it's like she has been exposed as a fighter. Knowing what Cyborg is capable and STILL is capable of doing in ways it does look like Ronda might be running a little bit.
Cyborg made her UFC debut finally this year, and with there still not being a weight division for the 145lb fighters out there, hopefully, that can change in the future. If not, I'm sure Cyborg will be open to doing whatever it takes to fight Rousey. They are both in the UFC now and whenever Ronda Rousey comes back she won't be able to hide anymore.
I can see these ladies taking the main event at UFC 205 in New York. There were so many bad words and exchanges that were given between these 2. I can totally understand how Cyborg wants to chew her face off and I'm pretty sure she will.
As long as Ronda can get back into the octagon soon.
