Esha Knows Stuff

just a  little bit of everything

DID YOU KNOW, slave rebellions started on ships?

In 1803 Igbo people took over, drowned their captors, & set in Dunbar Creek. They marched singing into the waters committing mass suicide. A powerful story of resistance rather than become enslaved.

By many people, this was known as the first freedom march of the United States as they were from St. Simons Island, Georgia. Approximately 75 Igbo people drowned, yet only 13 bodies were recovered.

In Beyonce's visual album "Lemonade", the song "Love Drought", matches the scenery and historical memory of the Igbo Landing.

Paying homage to our beloved Igbo Warriors who stood for freedom and unity.
