BOUT BREAKDOWN: HOLM VS DE RANDAMIE

Former bantamweight champion Holly "The Preachers Daughter" Holm (10-2) will face #10 ranked bantamweight Germaine "The Iron Lady" De Randamie (6-3) for the inaugural women's featherweight Championship on February 11th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

ME:

ALSO ME:

Soooooo on that note let's just get it started...

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT HOLLY HOLM

Let's see where to even begin...

Holm is coming off of 2 losses since her spectacular KO that the UFC still till this day refuses to show over Ronda Rousey (12-2). When she fought, now retired, Miesha "Cupcake" Tate (18-7) for her first title defense, yet lost the belt because she got choked out.

I mean, she was winning that fight yet made a mild mistake that cost her everything. Then goes to fight Valentina "The Bullet" Shevchenko (13-2), lost yet again.

My point to where I am getting at is why is Holly Holm fighting for this belt? In ways, she feels she can start something new while leaving all this being which sadly, isn't the case.

She doesn't want to be known as the fighter that ONLY knocked out Ronda Rousey, but she is because she hasn't really proved anything else to us besides refusing to fight Cyborg to losing her bantamweight crown.

Don't get me wrong, when the opportunity arises of course you want to jump in and take it (as she should), but Holm has proved nothing of Championship worthy which makes me feel some type of way about the entire thing.

BUT HEY, WHO AM I?!

I am not the one fighting however, I myself in a way being forced to hear her interviews about this being her time when I feel THIS should have been earned. What is going to happen to Holly Holm IF she loses this fight? She will be known as the greatest One Hit Wonder in the UFC.

NEXT.

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT GERMAINE DE RANDAMIE

Oh yes.

She is a 10-time world Muay Thai Champion with a record of (46-0) in kickboxing. I suppose I can't deny that record. The last time we saw Germaine fight inside of the octagon was in May against Anna "The Panda" Elmose (3-2) during UFC Fight Night 87 and won with a TKO.

She is doing her thing and I get that. HOWEVER, the issue I am trying to grasp is the list of fighters that she won against hasn't even been on the same caliber of fights as Holly Holm has fought.

Don't get me wrong, Germaine is a great fighter in her own regard, but the fact that she is fighting for the title over others bugs me.

As I begin to try and get back on track, I can't stop asking myself WHY?

She says that a lot of fans aren't thinking this fight is going to be entertaining yet she thinks otherwise. Either way, will Germaine bring it in that octagon? Of course.

She is all about this opportunity right now and is focused on the end goal. At the end of the day, it is what it is, but now this is just when I can't hold it in any longer...

ON THAT NOTE...

SO WHAT DO I THINK ABOUT ALL OF THIS?!?

If I have to go back and sum everything up of what I just said this is how it would be..

I don't think Holm vs De Randamie should be fighting for the inaugural women's featherweight championship belt. WHY? Because they both aren't worthy of it.

De Randamie hasn't done her does in winning against top fighters in the division while over here we have Holly Holm losing her Championship belt and coming off a 2 loss fight streak.

I MEAN, does anything else really have to be said?

Also closing your doors on the past isn't really going to help Holm in this situation because you still haven't fought the best. I don't hear her calling out Cyborg these days anymore.

FUNNY RIGHT?

Cause when she had the belt Holm sure did have a lot to say about that.

De Randamie during this fight will get her hand raised in the end if I had to choose someone. If we think about Holly's boxing vs De Randamie's kickboxing, the matchup is great, but the fighters are totally different.

In a way, I'm sure everyone expects this fight to be standing in that regard, but I think that will be Holly's tactic to possibly take down her opponent.

Will she get there? Honestly, I don't know. De Randamie has some TKO power which is nice and different, but she will become victorious in the end over Holly Holm.

When she was Champion she didn't do anything but talk and Talk and TALK yet, when it came down to fighting the ones she called out all of the sudden the "Preachers Daughter" persona comes out.

Am I happy about a new women's division being formed? 100% I am. This is a great step forward and I hope it doesn't just stop from there. This is the beginning of a new era for women inside of the UFC.

As for what will happen after a Champion is created tomorrow night, Cyborg will indeed be back to fight the Champion. That is how it should have been done from the get-go, but of course, things didn't happen that way.

I mean, duh.

Once Cyborg has the belt I'm sure UFC will pull something along the lines of recruiting Invicta Fight Championships interim featherweight Champion, Megan Anderson (8-2) to possibly fight Cyborg.

It is hard to deny when she will be live-tweeting during the PPV main event for UFC 208.

Either way, history will be made whether we like it or not but that doesn't mean the non-casual fans aren't going to feel a certain way about it.

If the division is starting off like this now the changes are going to remain constant until that belt is in the correct hands.
